During tonight’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks, Kristaps Porzingis went off for a dunk on Giannis Antetokounmpo. He landed awkwardly on his knee, grasping it in a lot of pain. Porzingis was able to walk off the court and headed immediately for an MRI on his left knee. The injury reminded many people of the exact same landing and pose Derrick Rose was in when he tore his ACL in 2012.
We hope for the best for one of the many unicorns we enjoy seeing on the court. With that said, one has to believe that basketball may be too violent on the body for a man of Porzingis’s size to play a full, heavy minute-filled season.
We will continue to update this article as more news comes out about the injury.
UPDATE: An MRI has confirmed that Porzingis tore his ACL in his left knee. This is heartbreaking news for the young Knick and we wish him a speedy recovery.
